The new kernel seem to be working great, except for one small problem (not a big one):

Code:
/vpsscr/vps-enter: line 38: [: _vserver_build_: integer expression expected
Anywhere in the scripts where the build number is expected it only gets _vserver_build_. Is the syntax or variable named differently now?

I see a 23 kernel there now too. Are there documented fixes/improvements for the 23 over the 22 kernel? Thanks!

There is only one big change.
The -23 release is based on new RH kernel 2.4.21-27.0.2.EL

Some fixes in this RH kernel version:
- fix nessus-induced kernel panic with auditing
- fix 32-bit-compat regression in CMSG validations
- eliminate potential VMA list races with do_brk()
- ignore ICMP Source Quench messages in tcp_v4_err()
- prevent VMA overlap crashes in insert_vm_struct()

Please refer to http://www.freevps.com/docs/
If you wish to manage VPS via H-Sphere Control Panel, please read the VPS section at:
http://psoft.net/HSdocumentation/sysadmin/

Is that what you want - or you need something else?

I think the best way for you to proceed with VPS is to install H-Sphere VPS scripts. You don't need to have H-Sphere for them, they are freely downloaded from psoft.net. They make VPS creation and management much easier. H-Sphere just provides a cosy Web interface to manage VPS by means of these scripts.

Please refer to the following guide to install H-Sphere VPS on your server (skip the kernel installation if you've done with it):
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...tallation.html

Please also read the following guides:
http://www.freevps.com/docs/vps_tools.html#hsphere
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...s_scripts.html

In particular, to create virtual servers:
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation....html#creation

I can't investigate your problem without an extra info.
As minimum, give me full info about your system configuration:
uname -a
rpm -qa | grep vps

Then, send me the whole /var/log/hsphere/vps.log

After that we will be able to help you.

I installed freevps 1.3-23 (kernel-freevps-smp-1.3-23) last Thursday, I installed Tomcat inside the vps machine and all seem to works without problems. I have not installed the VPS machine inside the HSphere CP.
Host OS is RedHat WS3, Xeoan 2,8 Ghz 2GB RAM.

Oohh 1.4-1. Any details about it?

Also, are their release notes for the 1.3x beta builds available? (even just a few lines would be great)

Thanks! Does that mean that there's a 1.4-2 coming and that we shouldn't install 1.4-1?

You could use 1.4-1 only for testing purposes.
Don't use this version for production servers.

Yes, and it will be another next few days if it's needed to make 1.4 release 100% stable and safe for production servers

With 1.4.1 on our dev box we're getting a few dead processes, mainly from vserver_limit and quotaoff. For example:

19168 pts/0 D 0:00 | \_ /usr/sbin/vserver_limit --ctx 3 --vroot /vservers/testserv

(this one was on vps-start.pl)
Anyone else seeing this?

1.4-1 is not a public release even not a public beta. Please, don't use it.

There is 1.4-3 public release coming soon.

OK, thanks.

Is there a beta testing group that is putting the new releases through their paces? If yes, how does one join up? If no, wouldn't the more people testing out FreeVPS before release mean a more stable product with fewer bugs, and FreeVPS being tested out on more hardware combinations?
